Wan Rosdy ready to defend the seat of Jelai


CARETAKER Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail is ready to defend the Jelai seat he has won since 2004 in the next general election (GE15).

“InsyaAllah, I am ready to defend the seat of Jelai State if the party leadership allows it. Every time I challenge my majority vote increases, that’s my track record and the numbers never lie,” he said.

Wan Rosdy, who is also the Chairman of Pahang Barisan Nasional (BN), was speaking to reporters after introducing the assistance of Pahang State Micro Entrepreneurs Funding Scheme (I-Push Scheme) 2022 today at the Kuantan City Council Complex.

In the last general election, Wan Rosdy won Jelai with a majority of 3,507 votes, beating PAS candidate Abdul Karim Nor who won 2,351 votes, while PKR’s Dr. Abdul Rasid Ali and Party candidate Sosialis Malaysia Mat Nor Ayat got only 1,298 and 229 votes respectively.

Wan Rosdy said Pahang BN will also submit a list of winnable and corruption-free candidates to participate in the GE15 to the party leadership.

In GE14, BN won 25 of Pahang’s 42 National Assembly seats, while Pakatan Harapan (PH) won nine and NOT eight.

BN also won nine of the state’s 14 parliamentary seats, with the remaining seats going to PH. However, PH lost a seat when Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah left PKR to join Bersatu in 2020.

Meanwhile, commenting on the I-Push 2022 scheme, Wan Rosdy said that it was an initiative of the state government in cooperation with Bank Muamalat which offered funding ranging between RM3,000-10,000. with interest-free repayments over a period of five years. years, plus a moratorium for the first year.

The initiative, which targets micro-entrepreneurs affected by Covid-19 and floods, involves an allocation of RM20 million for the benefit of 2,500 beneficiaries.

The first phase of the transfer today involved 751 entrepreneurs, including small street vendors, with an allocation of RM7.15 million, while the rest would soon be distributed to qualified individuals. – Bernama, October 17, 2022.
