Universiti Malaysia Sabah Offers Oil and Gas Related Degree Program | Daily Express Online

The Faculty of Engineering at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has designed a process engineering degree program specializing in oil and gas operations to produce quality human capital capable of contributing to the hydrocarbon industry.

According to the faculty’s website, the degree in Process Engineering (Oil and Gas Operations) is a three-year program, which mainly covers midstream activities in the oil and gas industry.

The program enables graduates to pursue a career as an oil and gas operator; oil and gas contractor; process technician; process supervisor; assistant engineer; general technician; plant and machine operator; health and safety officer, including in government sectors.

Applicants must meet the general university admission requirements of having completed a minimum of three credits (Grade C/6C) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) for the following subjects – Chemistry, Biology/Technical Drawing, Mathematics / additional mathematics; and at least pass (Grade E/8E) the English subject; and do not have physical disabilities that complicate practical work and activities.

Graduates of the program will establish themselves as sub-professionals/competencies in their respective fields and contribute to sustainable development through innovative local technologies to meet the needs of society and the nation as a whole.

Upon completion of the programs, graduates should be able to identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems and draw substantiated conclusions using codified analytical methods specific to oil and gas engineering-related operations .

Graduates should also be able to apply knowledge of applied mathematics, applied science, engineering fundamentals, and operational principles of oil and gas engineering to the solution of well-defined engineering problems.
