PropNex has led the way with a new initiative to support property sellers; Contribution of S$5 million to charity

Singapore August 25, 2022 – PropNex, Singapore’s largest real estate agency, today held its annual mid-year convention to recognize the top performers of 1H2022. The event was graced by Guest of Honor Mrs. Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Second Minister of Finance and National Development. Ms. Indranee stressed the importance of a strong partnership between government and industry to raise the professional standards of estate agents. She also commended the company for taking the initiative to establish a union-like structure – the Property Salespeople’s Chapter, which gave independent property salespeople a much-needed platform to raise the issues and concerns they were faced.

Giving independent sellers the voice they need
PropNex is the first-ever real estate agency to have a formalized framework, backed by the Singapore Industrial and Service Employees Union (SISEU), to empower sellers and strengthen its platform as a fair and progressive.

Launched in 2021, the PropNex Real Estate Salespersons – Agents’ Voice Matters chapter allows sellers to take a more active role in voicing their concerns and educating other PropNex sellers on fair industry practices. With PropNex taking the lead in protecting sellers, Ms Indranee encouraged other agencies to also consider creating a similar chapter to hold property sellers accountable.

Ms Indranee said: “I am encouraged to see PropNex, as one of the leaders in the industry, taking the lead and addressing the welfare and interests of estate agents. Although real estate agents today are considered self-employed, that does not mean that real estate agencies cannot provide more protection to their real estate agents through a union-supported structure. I applaud PropNex’s efforts to create a fair and progressive work environment and encourage other agencies to do the same.

Raised $5 million for Charity since 2013, including $800,000 for Community Chest in 2022
As a local business, PropNex believes in giving back to the community and creating social impact. This year, PropNex is donating S$800,000 to the Community Chest, bringing the company’s total contribution to the charity to S$5 million since 2013 – ahead of its original goal of raising S$5 million from by 2023 for communities in need. The donation check of S$800,000 was presented to Mr. Chew Sutat, Chairman of the Community Chest, in the presence of Ms. Indranee. As the company’s corporate social responsibility philosophy focuses on empowering the younger generation, recipients were selected for their programs that support children with special needs and those from low-income families. These are the Autism Resource Center, Life Community Services Society, SHINE Services for Children and Youth, Care Corner Student Care Centers (two locations – Woodlands and Admiralty) and the Education and Welfare PERTAPIS.

First launched in 2013, this annual giving campaign – with contributions from the company and its vendors – continues to signal the strength of PropNex’s commitment to playing its part in building communities. PropNex sellers are always encouraged to actively give back to the less privileged in the community amidst their success in the real estate industry. In a move that’s the first of its kind, PropNex vendors have been donating a portion of their commission to Community Chest’s SHARE Regular Giving program since 2013. This has made it easy and consistent for them to donate. Additionally, sellers could voluntarily contribute a portion of their commission to the “PropNex Cares” initiative, which would then qualify them as PropNex Platinum Charitable Ambassadors.

In addition to contributing to the annual donation to Community Chest, a total of 20 vendors volunteered this year to donate a minimum of S$10,000 each. Jasmine Toh, Platinum Charity Ambassador and Millionaire Producer of 2021 who donated S$40,000 this year, shared, “It’s meaningful and it’s our way of helping the beneficiaries we’ve adopted this year.

PropNex CEO Mr. Ismail Gafoor highlighted at the event, “Our target set in 2013 was to contribute S$5 million by 2023, and we are delighted that this target has been achieved one year to advance. Our cumulative efforts to raise funds for those less fortunate are always on our minds, regardless of our success. We are currently working to raise an additional S$400,000 by the end of this year for the Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home. Adding value to the lives of others has been our core values since the company was founded and I look forward to seeing more PropNex salespeople contribute to society – not only monetary contributions, but also being the force for change in the community.

Community Chest President, Mr. Chew Sutat said, “By mobilizing its vendors to participate in Community Chest’s SHARE program and its other corporate initiatives, PropNex has exemplified the power of collective and sustained giving. I hope other businesses will be similarly inspired to partner with Community Chest, to make giving a part of life, so we can build a caring and inclusive home for all.

Beyond monetary contributions
Along with monetary donations, PropNex is also committed to spending time with those in need and adding joy to their lives whenever possible. Over the years, PropNex has organized several events to delight the children of various beneficiaries. These included trips to Jurong Bird Park and Resorts World Universal Studio, and even cooking classes. PropNex looks forward to impacting more people with its efforts and charitable contributions for many years to come.

Regional expansion for PropNex, venturing into a new continent
In line with PropNex’s aspirations to be a leading regional real estate agency, the company has expanded its presence in Victoria, Australia, marking its presence in Asia-Pacific’s sixth-largest market, including Singapore. PropNex Victoria was officially launched during the Convention and was seen by over 2,000 vendors, overseas franchise partners and guests.

PropNex Victoria has an office in Melbourne, led by a team of dedicated property professionals who have already entered into multiple collaborations with reputable builders and developers to market premium locations. These locations include Melbourne CBD, Southbank, Yarra Bend in Alphington, as well as popular promising growth suburbs such as Cranbourne East and North, Pakenham, Officer, Berwick, Werribee, Mernda, Epping and Wyndham Vale.

“This is an important milestone for PropNex as we expand our footprint beyond Southeast Asia. As a mature economy, Australia’s vibrant and well-developed property market will bring many potential opportunities through our PropNex network in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Cambodia. Those who have emigrated or are permanent residents call Australia their second home, while Australian universities are popular with international students pursuing their higher education. We believe this franchise will bring valuable synergy to both regions,” commented Mr. Gafoor.
