A host of grand Durga Puja celebrations have returned to West Bengal and the state has been adorned with pomp and grandeur to welcome Goddess Durga. While Kolkata, the state capital, usually boasts of the most unique and interesting pandals, this year a Kalyani-based celebration seems to have outdone itself. The Durga Puja pandal is inspired by the twin towers of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The impressive puja pandal was conceptualized and constructed by the Luminous Club of Kalyani. The club celebrates 30 years of completion this year and started working on the pandal several months before Durga Puja. Arguably, the Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are one of the most popular tourist spots in the world, and people from all over flock to visit it. The Kalyani Durga Puja pandal is a sight to behold as it has been illuminated like the original twin towers and stands at a massive height of 148 feet.

As celebrations in West Bengal start early for Durga Puja, the pandal has already attracted several rounds of crowds. Themed puja pandals in the state have always been popular and the Kalyani Durga Puja pandal is one of the best examples. The spectacular colors of red, white and green dot Nadia’s skyline and will do so until the celebrations are over. Inside the pandal rests a huge idol of Goddess Durga, along with her children, adorned with white, silver and gold accents.
Durga Puja celebrations in West Bengal started in full fervor from Mahalaya i.e. on September 25, 2022. After a lull in celebrations due to the pandemic over the past two years, crowds jostled for to make room as people poured into the streets to catch a glimpse of the goddess. Several other states in Bengal, as well as the capital city Kolkata, were adorned with lights and decorations to celebrate the auspicious festival.
