MACC and Socso launch a survey on employment incentives

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Social Security Organization (Socso) have launched Ops Hire to investigate the issue of misrepresentation and misappropriation of funds from the Employment Recruitment Incentive Scheme ( PenjanaKerjaya) in several states, starting today, the agencies said.

MACC said the large-scale operation will be carried out by MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya in conjunction with its state branches.

“PenjanaKerjaya is a government initiative to help employers and employees facing the challenge of Covid-19, and it started in early 2020.

“It is implemented by Socso to stimulate the country’s economy by creating new jobs, maintaining employment and improving the skills of workers,” MACC said in a statement.

The agency added that it had cooperated with Socso, which developed information through surveillance and intelligence on the recipients of the funds, and found that there are employers who submit false declarations and embezzle these funds.

MACC said it takes the matter seriously as it is in the public interest, adding that it will investigate thoroughly. All parties who break the law will be prosecuted. – Bernama, July 13, 2022.
