Actor Kamal Haasan arrived in Malaysia on Sunday May 29 to promote his upcoming actor titled VikramNamewhich is set to open in theaters on June 3.

Photos of his arrival have been shared on social media.

Also on Sunday, the 67-year-old actor-director met with opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, as Anwar shared on his Instagram.

Anwar wrote in the caption, “Today I met superstar Kamal Haasan and had a long chat with him…I will be attending his latest movie Vikram premiere on June 3 in Kuala Lumpur .”

VikramName is Kamal’s first release since 2018 Vishwaroopam 2.

Kamal’s next stop after Malaysia would be Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Haasan was in France last week, attending the Cannes market to launch NFTs based on VikramName from Fantico, a digital platform licensed from Vistas Media Capital of Singapore.

Kamal spoke to Reuters about the subject of the film and whether the title is a tribute to the 1986 film VikramName.

He said: “It’s not a sequel, but, yeah, it’s (about) a man who is very similar. The movie starts off differently, it’s about reminiscing about the man and his acts.

“The title is a tribute to the old movie because it was my first production in Raajkamal and people embraced it and encouraged me so much and I’m still working after 36 years.

“There’s still excitement when I call the movie VikramName – this reputation comes from the first VikramName and I think we can do even better with this one.”
