ALOR GAJAH, September 17 – The government is forming the Malaysian Film and Music Advisory Council to formulate more proactive policies to help industry players.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said the new council is being formed as the country’s film and music industry experiences another surge from the post-Covid-19 pandemic.

“We could see how the Mat Kilau movie collected nearly RM100 million…and now the box office collection of the Air Force movie reaches almost tens of millions, it means the industry can make great strides s there are quality films.

“So to progress further, our film industry needs experts to advise government and industry and we could select seven to ten people from the film industry and seven to ten from the music industry for the council” , did he declare.

He was speaking to reporters after the opening of the Malaysia Day celebration in Ayer Limau State Constituency at the Ayer Limau State Constituency Development and Coordinating Committee Complex (JAPERUN) here today.

Also present were Ayer Limau MP, Datuk Hameed Myhtheen Kunju Basheer, and Melaka State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Datuk Ibrahim Durum.

Annuar also announced that the Deputy Speaker of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly, Rim Datuk Khaidhirah Abu Zahar, would be the chairman of the advisory council.

He said the film and music industry has huge potential to create more job opportunities and attract more professionals to join them.

In this regard, Annuar said that the celebrations of the national month and Malaysia Day could continue not only at the state level and the different communities could also organize them to imbue the spirit of patriotism as Keluarga Malaysia culture (Malaysian family).
