KUALA LUMPUR (August 1): Graphjet Technology Sdn Bhd’s collaboration with Toyoda Trike Corp and Asia Development Capital Ltd can bring great benefits to the Malaysian and Japanese economies, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation said, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

He believes that in the long term, the commercialization of graphene produced by Graphjet will benefit Malaysia as it has the potential to supply local companies with graphene products under the “Graphenovation” program.

“It will also allow Malaysia to one day become a graphene exporter to the world, in addition to being an incentive for companies that want to take advantage of the great potential of graphene to invest in Malaysia,” he said on Monday. in a press release. (1st of August).

Adham witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Graphjet and Toyoda and Asia Development Capital Ltd on the same day.

Through the MOU, Toyoda, which is a leading and internationally well-known Japanese company, was granted the exclusive right to distribute graphite and graphene produced by Graphjet in Japan.

Graphjet has pioneered an innovative approach to producing graphene from palm kernels. This patented technology is a solution that will advance the development of graphene.

The technology that uses palm kernel as the main ingredient in the production of graphene also gives Malaysia an edge in supplying raw materials in the production of graphene since Malaysia is one of the world’s largest producers of palm oil.

Adham said the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation has also suggested that Graphjet establish a partnership with NanoMalaysia Bhd (NMB), particularly in supply chain and product and application development. graphene endorsement, in addition to obtaining the GrapheneVerify certification to gain national and international recognition. for the product.

GrapheneVerify is a program of NanoVerify Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned company of NMB which is an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, established to encourage the participation of Malaysian graphene players in the global market graphene which is estimated to be American. $267 billion over the next five years.

Under the 11th Malaysian Plan, the NMB was tasked with implementing the National Graphene Action Plan 2020.
