The Malaysia International Halal Showcase 2022 (MIHAS), the largest halal business event in the world, opened on September 7, 2022, the day before the start of the International Sourcing Physical Program (INSP) at Menara MATRADE in Kuala Lumpur.

The INSP MIHAS itself, which was held in conjunction with the 18th edition of MIHAS, offered pre-scheduled business meetings to over 200 international buyers and over 300 suppliers, including Malaysian exporters. Over 1,500 pre-arranged B2B interactions were conducted by INSP MIHAS, MATRADE’s premier business matchmaking program, during its physical event. B2B meetings included those with high-end clients from countries such as Bhutan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, USA, India and Turkey who were found by MATRADE’s 46 international offices. Some of the biggest companies, stores and supermarkets in their respective countries are represented by these premium buyers.

Meanwhile, the virtual version has welcomed nearly 200 international buyers and over 200 Malaysian exporters, so far, which is expected to generate an estimated RM43.1 million in potential sales. The virtual version of INSP MIHAS continues to receive high demand since it went live in May this year, resulting in an extension from its organizer.

“MATRADE is delighted to see that the INSP MIHAS program is being well received by international buyers and Malaysian exporters,” said MATRADE CEO, Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz. According to him, MATRADE has received continued demand well past the August 31 virtual program closing date after running it for 4 months.

“With that, we are delighted to announce that MATRADE is extending the virtual INSP MIHAS program until November 15, 2022. This is a positive sign for Malaysia’s trade performance as well as the unlimited opportunities of the halal economy” said MATRADE CEO Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz.

By combining the impact of physical and virtual formats, INSP MIHAS helps nearly 600 Malaysian exporters connect with more than 400 buyers from 50 countries, including the Middle East, Europe, Central Asia, from South Asia, ASEAN, Oceania and the African region.

Leveraging its 46 overseas offices, MATRADE launched the INSP MIHAS program to promote high-value business deals by securing premium buyers from countries such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United States, India and Turkey to connect with Malaysian exporters. These premium buyers represent some of the biggest conglomerates, retailers and supermarkets in their respective countries.
